Class Visits for Schools

At Peterborough Libraries, we want to help you to encourage your students to read for pleasure outside of school. Joining the library gives your students access to free books to borrow, as well as introducing them and their families to a free local resource they may not know about.

We offer 'Introduction to the Library' class visits at all our libraries. These visits include an introduction to the library service, a story, and plenty of time for students to explore the books and the children’s area of the library. Parents/carers can also be given the opportunity to join their children to the library prior to the visit, so that students can collect their cards and borrow a book whilst at the library. Introduction to the Library visits can be arranged for any year group and are free of charge.

We also offer themed visits at our larger libraries. These are sessions based around your topic or area of study with activities using the library resources. There is a charge for these sessions, to cover the cost of materials. If you would be interested in arranging a themed visit, please contact us to discuss what we can offer.
