Read all about it! FREE digital newspapers for Peterborough Library members.

From Wednesday 1 October, Peterborough Library members will be able to access a collection of national daily newspapers - through BorrowBox, a digital collection of titles in various formats provided by the library service.

The BorrowBox service is free to use with a Peterborough Libraries membership, with an easy-to-use app compatible across a wide range of devices.

Members will have access to popular newspapers: the Daily Express, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, The Guardian, Metro, and The i.

BorrowBox offers unique digital features designed to enhance the reading experience:

  • Text View for improved readability, including adjustable font size and colour contrast
  • Voice-over functions so newspapers can be listened to as audio
  • Translation into more than 40 languages
  • 24/7 access anywhere in the world

These tools make it more inclusive - improving accessibility for people with visual impairments, those for whom English isn’t their first language, and anyone who simply prefers a more tailored reading experience.

Firzana Shaheen, Library Services Manager, said:

“We are thrilled to offer newspapers to our members again. This time, the benefits go beyond the printed page. BorrowBox gives readers the flexibility to access the news they want, when they want, in a way that works for them. Whether that’s adjusting the text size, accessing it while on holiday, or reading in another language — it makes newspapers accessible to everyone, wherever they are. And the fact it’s free for members makes it even better.”

Peterborough Libraries membership is completely free, and with BorrowBox, members can also enjoy E-books, E-audiobooks, and E-magazines alongside the new E-newspaper collection.
